Where to keep an AED at home

Visible, reachable, the same place every time, and never in a locked cupboard.

Pick one place and tell everyone

• Central and visible. A hallway or kitchen shelf beats a bedroom closet. Someone who has never used it should find it in seconds.
• Tell the household. Grandparents, babysitters and neighbours who hold a key should know where it is.
• Look at the ready light. The HeartStart tests itself every day. A glance at the green light when you pass is enough.
• Keep the spares with it. A spare pads cartridge and the replacement date belong in the same place.
• Children in the house? For children under 55 lbs or 8 years, add the infant/child pads.
